Who want’s to work on Tuesday’s? I much prefer play outside and enjoy the gorgeous weather.
Today’s discovery was Les Sentiers de l’Abbaye d’Oka in the beautiful Laurentians. The entrance is free however the trails remain closed up to 12hrs after a rainfall.
The mountainous terrain has 50 trails to discover alongside a beautiful river that range from beginner to advanced.
We met up in parking lot located just behind the Tomahawk Cycles bike store and then set off exploring the North section. It offers trails that are more rolling and winding for xc style. As well as a beautiful view of the river. In the first section, we crossed many families with young children. After warming up on the “G2” trail we quickly decided to explore the South section just across the street beside the Abbey.
The South section is definitely more mountainous with trails that offer great flow and great adrenaline sensations. The climb up to the summit is through winding trails with lots of roots but worth all the effort. I particularly enjoyed the “Resurrecting” trail for it’s good flow, berms and small jumps. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to explore all the trails however I look forward to my next visit to discover the “Tomahawk” and “Powwow” trails.
It’s a beautiful area to discover and as it was both our first time here, not knowing the trails, it made it quite a challenge to navigate. Even after purchasing the trail map and using Trailfork.
We appreciated our après ride by savoring delicious cheese, sausage and beer we picked up from the Oka Abbey store, conveniently located across the street from Tomahawk Cycles bike store.
