For my 40th birthday weekend, my husband and I decided to hit the road for a ski trip in Vermont. What’s the first ski hill that popped in our head? Obviously Killington, The Beast! We skied there once last year and we fell in love with the mountain, the area and the community!

As soon as you arrive, you will find many smiling mountain ambassadors to answer all your questions. Then, you get to the ticket window and all the staff are really welcoming. Killington offers all sorts of little ‘extras’ for skiers like a free bag check in the main  lodge, the K-1.

By the way, this lodge will be replaced by the brand new K-1. The grand opening is planned in the Fall 2020! I can’t wait to see it! It’ll be amazing as everything Killington does, I am sure about that!

We were lucky with 140/155 trails and 20/22 lifts open on this windy, but warm Friday. Killington is a massive ski area with 1509 skiable acres and 3050 feet of vertical drop and if you add Pico Mountain, which is just beside and accessible with your Killington ski pass, you’re now up to 212 trails and 1977 skiable acres. When you think about that, Whistler also has 200 marked runs!

We had 2 big highlights today! The first was East Fall, a black run. Killington received around 2 feet of snow in 2 hours on Wednesday and some runs, like East Fall, were still packed with really good snow! The turns were deep, strong and they were the best ones we had so far this season. The second big highlight of the day was definitely Double Dipper. Believe it or not, these glades were amazing and we found some pockets of really good snow. I was very impressed, being able to ski glades with Mother Nature’s attitude this year.

If ever you come in Killington and it’s cold, you just have to pass by the Jerk Jamaïcain mountain grill, with the ambiance and the music, you will feel just like in the Caribbean!

In addition to having fun skiing, we were surrounded by snow ghosts! I find them so beautiful, it’s almost like skiing in a fairy tale. You can judge yourself!

Every visit here is a real vacation. It is just a 4h drive (from Montreal area), but we always felt like we were skiing on the West Coast! If you don’t know this mountain, you really have to come, and if you’re an Ikon pass holder, Killington offers 5 days lift tickets on it!

So just do it! Come in Vermont and ski The Beast!!
