I should have known better than to expect a quiet evening of skiing on a Wednesday, in the middle of spring break and a warm evening. Live and learn!
After almost two hours of driving there was no turning back when we saw the packed parking lot. We collected our gear and proceeded to the chalet to get dressed and get our boots on. I was flabbergasted when i was informed that the wait time for a lift ticket was about 1 ¼ hours, again, too late to turn back now, right?
I’m guessing by the quantity of younger people that a few busses arrived just before us, which overwhelmed the staff and operations.
On to the skiing! The conditions were what you’d expect at the end of a really busy day with a few flurries throughout the day, an ice packed base with mounds of pushed snow. They weren’t the best conditions but still better than no conditions at all!
The main chair lift at the main Chalet was really busy but given it’s 6-person capacity, it actually was a bit quicker than expected. Still, we went on a search for smaller line-ups and settled on La Flèche d’Argent, between Avila & St-Sauveur.
It certainly was a beautiful warm evening for some night skiing, and I always enjoy skiing under the lights, i find the terrain is somehow easier to see. there were many skiers learning to ski so we had to be careful about our speed. I spent the majority of my evening between La Flèche, La Dévaleuse & Côte67, Pronto & Express-Est.
We ended our evening a little sooner than expected to account for the snowy conditions on the return home
