I was arriving after a day of skiing in the St-Donat area and decided to spend the night at l’Auberge St-Côme, which is conveniently located half-way up the mountain and provides excellent ski-in/ski-out capability. I was quite disappointed to learn that their restaurant was still closed during the week, so I had to go foraging in town for a potential breakfast for the following morning, which I found at the local bakery.
Luckily during my foraging, I found a great place for dinner and après-ski called Tré Carré, a great little Micro-brewery/pub. The beer was surprisingly good and the food even better making this an excellent spot after a long day of skiing.
Luckilly I had brought ear plugs because the paper thin walls did not provide much of a sound barrier. Still after a full day of skiing I went out like a log!
Now to the interesting stuff! It’s always nice to be able to simple ski-out of your place in the morning, especially when the conditions are so good. It was -2deg Celsius with a fresh coat of snow over a very well-groomed surface.
The new RFID equipment at the hill made moving through the turnstiles easy peazy. There was a competition on the West side of the mountain so I primarily skied the Est side to avoid the crowds.
The grooming was impeccable and lasted most of the day. The Glades were also very nice, I particularly appreciated les Epinettes & les Cèdres. My favorite runs were La Geneviève Simard & Le Boulevard.
