Indeed, winter taking over this morning. 6 cm of fresh snow, a mix of sun and clouds, and temperature on the chilly side, with minus -15 at the top of the mountain. I felt it a little more, as I have not been used to thermometer being on the minus side lately…

It looks like some people were already back to work. The crowd was quite “reasonable”, with very little wait at the lifts, even here on the South side, whether at the gondola, or the Flying Mile chair.

Skiing / riding was in a “fast” mode today. With the drop of the temperatures, bases have hardened. Surfaces were groomed all around the mountain, a mix of man made and fresh snow on the surface. You have to expect a few ice patches here and there. To better enjoy your day on the slopes, it is a good idea to have those edges sharpened.

Such are favorable conditions for race training between the gates.  With the presentation of the Women’s GS World Cup race here last month, the Flying Mile run, as a race track, regained popularity. It must be fun for them to try a course where the best in the world have raced.

A respectable count of 51 trails is offered, just over 50 % of the terrain throughout the 4 sides of the mountain. Enough to have fun, especially considering the difficult weather conditions that prevailed for the past weeks.

My trail of the day : Erick Guay, named after the local and world champion ski racer.

Time for a short pause to catch my breath… Beautiful view of the white frosted trees and the lake near the Village.

Moving on to the North side, no more waiting at the lifts here.

The crew’s hard work allowed the opening of the challenging Expo run with its steep pitch. Good to burn those extra calories gained from auntie’s Holiday cooking …

Until January 7th you can enjoy various activities for the kids at the pedestrian Village (bottom of the South side). Tomorrow: Hockey on snow.

In store for tomorrow, weatherwise : Milder with a maximum of minus – 4 degrees, with a possible snow shower in the afternoon. Coming up this week-end a little more snow is expected here, from a trace to a few more centimeters. We will take all… No reason not to come play outdoors.
